Where are all the young voters and why aren’t they casting their ballots? To comment on the drop in voter turnout for the local government elections on 1 November among young voters, Cape Talk’s Lester Kiewit spoke to Mario Meyer, Youth Capital’s Policy and Learning Manager.
The issue of youth unemployment in particular has been a long-standing issue. 60% of South Africa’s total unemployed are young people and there hasn’t been any change.

Youth Capital Influencer Casimiro Sithole joined Mario and Lester on air, sharing some of the reasons behind his decision not to vote.
I don’t see reasons to vote because I don’t see any change on issues that affect me, such as youth unemployment.
Mario also stressed the importance of a common vision to tackle youth unemployment.
