ON CAPE TALK | ‘I’ve been trying’. 8 years without a job.

Youth Capital’s Project Lead Kristal Duncan-Williams spoke to Amy Mciver on Cape Talk about the recently launched documentary film  ‘I’ve been trying’. 8 years without a job. 

The short documentary film was a collaboration between Eh!woza, Youth Capital, and the ONE Campaign. Directed by Eh!woza’s Sam Flans, camera work by Alfa Fipaza, narrated by Pearl Thusi and with commentary by advocacy campaign Youth Capital, ‘I’ve been trying’. 8 years without a job is a short documentary film that uncovers the real challenges young people face on their journey to employment.

According to the latest Quarterly Labour Force Survey, 4 in 10 young people between the ages of 25 and 34 years old are not in employment. In face of these growing numbers, the far-reaching impact of this unemployment crisis on young people’s lives is often invisible.s
