Community Screenings

At Youth Capital, the stories and lived experiences of young people are central to the work we do. Our multimedia projects, in partnership with Eh!woza, shine a light on the realities of unemployed youth, the barriers they face and the ways they overcome them. Watch and listen to the stories of young South Africans, in their own voice.

I’ve been trying

Directed by Eh!woza’s Sam Flans, with camera work by Alfa Fipaza, narrated by Pearl Thusi and with commentary by advocacy campaign Youth Capital, ‘I’ve been trying’. 8 years without a job is a short documentary film that uncovers the real challenges young people in the Western Cape face on their journey to earning money.

Lean on each other

The short film, produced in collaboration with Eh!woza, features the seven stories of South Africans, across race, class and different sectors, to show the impact of social connections on their journey and the ways everyday South Africans can start creating the social connections young people need to earn an income.
